Random Pet Portrait Practice #1

Since I had such success at painting my pet bunny, I decided to continue on that path and to consider doing commissions for pet portraits. Of course, before I could even truly consider doing commissions, I needed more practice. Plus, I needed a bit of a portfolio for the commission listing on etsy. So...

My lop-eared bunny, J.J.

Random cockatiel

Random Siamese kitten

Random blue parakeet

Random Persian
So, thoughts? Am I improving? Is there a certain animal that I should paint more of? Are there any animals you want to see me try to paint?

BUNNY!

Ahem, yes, as the title states, I painted a pet rabbit... My pet rabbit, to be specific. His name is J.J. He is a mini-lop/lionhead mix, resulting in absolute adorable lop-eared cuteness! He is probably the sweetest bunny you'll ever meet or see, but then again, I'm horribly biased.

So, here he is!

For Those of You That Prefer the Dark...

I realize that almost everything that I've posted has been very positive and happy, but that's not the only stuff I paint. It's most of what I paint, but whenever I go into my brain to find something to paint, it's something dark... And I just finished my, according to my sister, creepiest painting yet. Odd thing? I don't think it's that creepy, but, hey, I was going for dark, and I achieved it! So! For those of you that prefer the dark stuff, here you go! A dark painting!

Entangled

As you can see, I named it 'Entangled', as the girl in the middle is being bound by the hair of the 'evil force'. It's your basic 'Good VS Evil' with evil winning. The 'good force' is trying to reach the girl, but is failing, as the 'evil force' is too strong.
(Fun little fact? The evil force was inspired by my BJD, Ethan; and the maiden was inspired by the BJD company, Doll Chateau's, sculpts/dolls.)
(Another fun fact? This was originally a rather different painting, but I was unhappy with it, and my brain kept nagging at me, so I painted over that one to make this one!)

The Results of One Class!

So, I went to the class!

The teacher was nice and full of fun little hints and tips, he had me paint a seascape with a few palm trees and some rocks. I was the only student in that class, so I got his undivided attention, which was good since he was able to constantly help me and answer my questions. I found out that I was doing everything pretty much right this whole time! And he said that I was far past beginner level and that he was going to recommend me to his advanced classes! Which, granted, probably isn't much since it's just a class at Michaels, but I'm excited anyways! Plus! I decided to practice, so I painted it again from memory today, and it wasn't bad! But that's enough of me talking, you want to see the results, yes? Well, here you go!

I'm aware that my palm trees need quite a bit of work, but like my instructor said, "How many palm trees have you painted before?" The answer now? "Six."

Drawings, for once!

My beautiful Only-Doll ChiYao, Xiao-Hong 'Xiao' Qi Lucas, made a wonderful model for some pencil drawings!

'Training' Time!

Yeah, so... Yes! I have signed up for a seascape painting lesson at my local Michaels; this will be my first time getting any kind of training (other than 'Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone' on the 3ds). So I'm excited, and I sincerely hope that this helps progress my skills! And if this goes well, I may sign up for more!

Sad Fish Trilogy

Sad Fish
Hope

This is the only series (if you can call it that) that I've ever done so far. It started with 'Sad Fish' a small painting. I had actually painted it with extra, leftover, paint from a completely different painting, which I didn't like as much a 'Sad Fish'. Then, I kept getting inspired to paint a sequel, so I did: 'Hope'. In 'Hope', the sad fish realizes that there is light in the darkness of the abyss... Then, I wanted a happier ending, so 'Hope' got a sequel, forming the 'Sad Fish Trilogy', as I call it. Naturally, the happy ending to this trilogy needed to be named 'Happy Fish'.

Carousel Horse Music Box Still-life Painting

I did this today, it's not amazing, but it was fun and I really enjoyed painting something from my childhood. I still need to work on shading and proportion, but it doesn't completely suck!

A Peacock and a Tea Set

The peacock painting is old... like, from mid-February 2015. That was about when I had started painting, and I was flipping through old pictures on my cellphone when I found a good one of a peacock from the zoo... So, I painted it, because I needed practice and it was a pretty picture.

Meanwhile, the still-life of 3 pieces of my mom's tea set, I did today, in hopes of magically being able to do realistic paintings. I couldn't magically professionally paint suddenly, but it was good practice and turned out rather nice.

More Random Portrait Paintings

This one is a bit older than the one below. As far as style goes, I went more in the 'Scream' direction than usual. And this painting is based off two of my BJDs, who are mother and daughter.

This is of one of my sims from 'The Sims 4', she was based off one of my 'The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim' characters, who was a khajiit.

Random Portraits 1

Welcome to my Art Blog!

This new blog is the first step I am taking towards having a career. This site will act as my portfolio, so to speak. At this point, I have no training. But with any luck, within the next few or more years, I'll get some, but for the time being, I'm a complete amateur... Perhaps you'll enjoy watching as my skills, hopefully, improve!
